Heads up brown rice syrup consumers! Brian P. Jackson, director of the Trace Element Analysis Core Facility at Dartmouth University has found that some brown rice syrup out there may contain dangerously high levels of arsenic. The most frightening detail is that they found organic baby formula whose main ingredient was brown rice syrup had arsenic levels six times higher than what the EPA considers safe for drinking water.
This study was published in “Environmental Health Perspectives” just a few days ago and notes that the brown rice syrup can also be found in cereal bar and other snacks. You can find more on this study here. You can rest assured, you’re still safe with us as we prefer agave nectar.Friends, please read your nutritional labels and pass this along to anyone you think it may effect!
